A Few Words About Lefkada

Lefkada is a jewel in the Ionian, stunningly covered by its greenery and endless beaches and turquoise water it enchants its visitors. On many beaches the trees touch gently on the sea while the “wild†beauty of her western side they create the sense of absolute adventure.
Many organised events are held on the island throughout the year but mainly during the summer giving an idea of how the Lefkadians know how to enjoy themselves. The climax is the “International Festival of Art and Folklore†held in the capitol of the island in August.
Apart from the beautiful beaches that surround the island advancing to his interior you will find pine forests, cypress types of trees. Regularly you will unexpectedly come across small monasteries some still in use others derelict. The largest and main monastery on the island is situated not far from Lefkas town.
Easy access to the island due to floating bridge make Lefkada an all year round destination.
Meganisi – A Secret Paradise
Situated just off the east coast of the island a still unexplored paradise receives its visitors with traditional Greek hospitality. Still untouched in many areas it offers an ideal environment for those who are looking for a peaceful break far from the hustle of cosmopolitan Nydri.
The landscape is enchanting and combines the green of olive trees and other plants, the turquoise crystal clear waters, endless embroidered coastline and is surrounded by the other islands of the small group known as the Prinkiponissa including the islands of Scorpios- the island of Aristotle Onassis, -, Skorpidi, Sparta, Madouri the island of the national poet - Aristotle Valaoriti, Thiglia, Cheloni and Kythro.
It is worth either hiring a small boat for the day to explore the area alternatively take a trip on one of the cruise ships that set off from Nidri and take you on a tour of the islands including the Cave of Papanikoli – a small but historical cave on the southern side of Meganisi. Beaches on Meganisi that warrant a visit are Ag-Yannis, Spilia, Faros, Atherinos and Limonari.
The three hamlets that are found on Meganisi are beautiful and as you wander through the small alleys during the evenings you see an authentic and traditional Greek lifestyle. Here you will find traditional shops, tavernas and cafeterias.
